How To Properly and Confidently Evaluate A Business For Yourself

Are you a ‘Success Seeker’?
If so, quick, succinct, helpful – and honest advice.

Today I got a call from a friend asking me to take a look at a business she is evaluating.

Friend: “Eric, I need your advice and experience. Can you help me evaluate a business I am looking into?”

Me: “Of course. Happy to do so.”

Friend: “And Eric, is it really true that people are having success working from home or from their local coffee shop and being able to make a full time income?

Me: “The truth is, yes – it happens quite more often than you might think, as long as you know what you’re doing and you have the right vehicle and the proper mentorship.

Here is what I then told her…

“Let me explain…

In this world of hyped up claims, and over promised results, the most truthful one is — “These results are not typical”.

If you’ve taken the time to study and learn about those who’ve “made it” or gained mastery in their respective fields, you’ll find a very common theme across most interests and industries. 97% failure rate, 3% success, 1% ultra-success.

Don’t believe me? Do a quick Google search on the percentage of new businesses that fail in the first 5 years.

Instead of asking why so many fail, one may ponder, ‘how do the few find success’?

Simply put…

Hard work, integrity and mindset are at the forefront of differentiated success factors.

Most people just won’t do what it takes or build the necessary skills to achieve wealth, freedom, and mastery.

The question really shouldn’t be, “can I succeed?” Instead, the 2 questions you may want to consider are,

‘Who do I need to become in order to succeed?’

‘Who do I need to find to become my mentor?’

And most importantly…

‘How Do I Increase My Chances of Succeeding?’

In short, mentorship. Like all geniuses of the past, the common thread between them was and continues to be – a passion for their craft and long-standing apprenticeships that last 7 years or more (It’s also where the idea of 10,000 hours to mastery is derived from).

Louis Pasteur said, “Chance favors the prepared mind.”

Being prepared is the access point to recognizing opportunity when it’s in front of you, and often mindlessly explained as ‘luck’ or ‘natural talent’ via bystanders who haven’t adequately prepared themselves.

First lesson and where to start – Learn how to properly and confidently evaluate any business or opportunity before making a decision.”

As for my friend…She is going to be just fine. She now:

1. Knows who she needs to become in order to succeed.
2. Already has the right mentors
3. Understands how to properly and confidently evaluate an opportunity

Happy to help in any way.

Stay open-minded, and practice discernment my friends.

Yours in success,
Eric
